I posted this, earlier, with no response. I am reposting
because IE needs to close contantly, even though I deleted
everything I can find that is associated with Flash
Player. I think the problem lies with IE. Any help out
there?

Old post ...
I kept getting "IE needs to close ... " error messages
that reported as problem with Flash Player and recommended
I go to Macromedia Support to resolve the issue. I could
not find any resolution, there, so I uninstalled all of
Shockwave and Shockmachine and tried to reinstall. Now, I
get "IE needs to close ... " upon every installation
attempt and each time I go to different websites. Has
anyone seen this problem? Does anyone have some
suggestions?

I've been having the same problem at certain sites. Unfortunately I can't
solve the problem either.

We need more information to be able to help you. Click on the details button
(or details link) when your system crshes and provide:

xxx caused an xxx in xxx at xxx:xxxx

or if you are using a later operating system, provide information about the
files (modules) involved in the crash.

If you are using the Error Reporting Tool, disable it so you can access the
error message in a more understandable form. Informationon how to disable
the Error Reporting Tool is here:

When I opened the "details" link, flash.ocx module kept
appearing, so I did a file search and found LOTS of
Macromedia files including flash.ocx in the Temp Folders
as Internet Files. I also found lots of Macromedia
files/folders in the Windows Application Data and System
folders. Apparently Windows did not "completely" remove
ALL of Macromedia and the Macromedia Uninstall Flash
Player utility did not remove ALL of flash.* even though
it reported it did. I manually deleted all flash.* and
most of swflash.* I could find, but I am afraid to delete
the swflash.cab and other Macromedia files/folders for
fear of negative affect to other programs. What I did
delete GREATLY improved the IE Error Msg. but, they still
pop up and close IE. What do you suggest?

My OS is Win98 2nd Edition, my browser is IE6. I have
256MB RAM and 5GB free storage. I do NOT use Outlook. I
use Netscape Mail from a Communicator 4.76 load for local
mail. I keep Nortons running and updated as well as
keeping Windows updated for ALL critical updates for my
version.

thx
