Flash drive help

Hi, i recently bought a flash drive mainly for saving word documents,my
problem is that when i use the dive in another computer running the same o/s
win xp the documents are scrambled when i open them. i would appreciate any
help with this
 
Sounds like the other PC doesn't have Word, or it's default
file association for .Doc files is wrong. When you open the
Word documents on the other PC, which application opens ?
(Will be in the Blue Title bar).

What program are you using to view them on the second computer?
 
just noticed that the documents were created in works 8. i've been trying to
open them in office 2003 excel and it dosent recognise file type xlr. dont
think theres a way round this or is there??

What is your version of Word? What is the other version?
Use a common version capable of being read by both versions- File, Save
As, - Word 97 supports most things.
Or use a different document format that both versions can read.
 
If you change the extension to XLS....Excel MIGHT be able to
read it. I have done this and it works with some files. The
reciprocal procedure sometimes works as well by changing XLS to
XLR if things are not too complicated in the Excel file.

i saved the file as word 97 and it opens office 2003 excel on my other
computer
