Hi all, is there a fix for HT CPU's??

Internet Explorer 6 SP1 seems to hang a lot when
HT is enabled. Everything else seems to work OK
no prob at all.

I think I remember seeing a KB about it, BUT can't
remember what the number for this KB was on the
MS site.

Anyone know ?

Thanx

Get rid of that antiquated P4 with the over-rated Hyperthreading (HT
actually slows your computer down with most software).

Get an AMD processor, preferaable a 64 bit one.

I dont know why coz it does.

As I said IE hangs

Just because it happens to you doesn't mean it's a general thing. I have an
HT enabled system as my secondary and it's *never* hung within IE with HT
enabled. Seems to me this is specific to your system. Why don't you write to
Intel and ask them if they will write a 'patch' especially for you...?

I'm with you there (not that there's much benefit as nothing is written to
support 64-bit yet). I'm running an FX-55 and it's sweet. A little warm, but
sweet. I have the 64-bit beta, I just haven't got around to partitioning and
installing it yet!

I dont care whether yours works or not. That wasnt the
question..

I didnt say its a general problem either. So, if you have nothing decent to
say , dont answer. And not worth
getting AMD 64 as there's no drivers for it.

BTW AMD sux ass!

Not experienced the problem - works find with HT enabled on both Xeon
3.2Ghz - yes 2 physical/4 virtual CPU's - if it was a problem I think
I would've experienced by now - most likely a "poorly maintained" PC -
malware/spyware, out-of-date AV, missing critical patches - etc. etc.
etc.

Nah its fine i formatted the hdd's.

I had to replace the CPU a while back, coz the power point (it was leaking
power) killed 1/2 of it but it still worked. BUT created a lot of errors.
(CPU errors). The last time, I think it left out files coz it kept crashing
the system. Dont wanna disable HT. I have a few programs for Video Editing
that make use of it.
