I'm using Microsoft Word to write a 'perfect' essay so was wondering what
does 'Fix Broken Text' actually do and would it help me with my essay at all?
Thank you

The 'Fix Broken Text' command is for fixing a problem with fonts in
documents created in Eastern European versions of Word
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260162). It won't do a thing to help
with your essay.

What constitutes a 'perfect' essay in the sense you used? According to
Boston University's web site at
http://www.bc.edu/admission/undergrad/process/tips/s-perfectessay.html,
"There is no such thing as a perfect essay." For your sake, I hope
they're wrong...
