fix boot.ini file

If no bootfile is avaailable to edit, how does one set
the default operating system to create a boot.ini file?
In other words I have no boot.ini file and windows boots
from c:/windows... please help
 
Boot XP into recovery console and use the bootcfg /rebuild command to make a
new boot.ini.
