i am currently running norton antivirus and since the
latest worm problems am considering firewall protection.
If a firewall is installed do you have to make any other
adjustments so as to be able to surf the net and get
usual emails without getting a {can'tdo something as
there is a firewall} thanks for your help pauline

Well, that would depend entirely upon the specific firewall you
chose to install. If you simply enable WinXP's built-in firewall, you
shouldn't need to make any adjustments to continue normal activities.

If you don't have firewall protection, then you surely will be
infected by the next version of some worm or virus that NAV can't
detect. At least turn on the XP firewall:

Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Your Connection -> Properties
-> Advanced. Place a check in the box and reboot your computer.

Or go to www.zonelabs.com and download\install their free firewall.
