Firewall

I just got

My DSL up and running and I am TRYING to0 et the firewall up and
everything I read says it is in the network connections uner the
control panbel BUT THERE IS NOTHING THERE!

There is supposed to be a LAN ican but it is EMPTY!

How do I activate my firewall?

Download either Sygate Personal Firewall -
http://www.download.com/3000-2092_4-10049526.html or ZoneAlarm Firewall -
http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10039884.html . Both have free versions
and are listed as the ones most used. Then disable Microsoft's Windows
Firewall. Why? It only alerts you to incoming things. Either of these
other two also alert you to outgoing things.

I take it you are asking about Windows Firewall. This is in Network &
Internet Connections. In the second half of the box that opens there
are 5 items one of which is Windows Firewall. Sometimes it is necessary
to look hard because the default color is blue and can be blinding!

Use the windows recommendations so that you have full protection.

Click Start, click Run, type wscui.cpl Click Windows Firewall.....
This will take you directly to Windows Security Center...no need to
look using the command.

start -> run -> firewall.cpl will directly open the Windows Firewall.
