When Windows loads the Windows firewall is activated and I
am unable to get onto the Small Business Network. I have
to uncheck the Windows firewall to get the network to
work. The firewall setting does not affect internet
traffic. What setting do I need to change on the Windows
firewall setting to get it to connect to the LAN.

Thanks
David

Are you referring to the Windows Firewall that's part of the upcoming
Windows XP Service Pack 2? If so, turn the firewall on, with
exceptions for File and Printer Sharing.

How about the original Windows Firewall? Is there a port
that I need to open?

Thanks,

In the original and SP1 versions of XP, it's called the Internet
Connection Firewall. SP2 changes its name to Windows Firewall and
adds features to it.

To share files on a LAN with Internet Connection Firewall enabled,
open the following ports: UDP 137, UDP 138, TCP 139, TCP 445.
