Hi

I have a problem where windows media player tries to open a port in the
firewall because it wants to receive UDP traffic from a Net radio station.
The problem is that when Windows Media Player tries to open the port a
dialog box pops up asking the user whether he/she will let wmp change the
firewall settings.
Can I somehow set in registry that it always must answer no and thereby
avoid that the dialog box is showed.

I hope somebody can help me.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi,

Have no idea. But one question for you.
Does this dialog box offer you a choice that you can select so it is never shown again?
If it does. Then use regmon.exe to trace what flag in registry is changed when you do so.

Hi,

I have tried to do so, but it is not usable, because the radio stations
what's to open different connections/ports. Then I have to find all the Net
Radio stations which want to stream UDP and it is not suitable.
I would like to find a solution which can deny the use of UDP, because if I
choose not to use UDP clicking the dialog box then the communication is
obtained through TCP/IP.

Hi,

Is this message box shown by firewall or WMP?
Are you using XPe SP2 firewall or some third party firewall?

You may try turning off firewall notifications. You can do this on the
"Exceptions" tab of the control panel applet (checkbox at the bottom of the
tab) or by running the following netsh.exe command:

netsh.exe firewall set notifications DISABLE
