Please don't begin any more new threads, Scarlett. This problem is related
to your thread "internet connection problem" which was crossposted to a
myriad of newsgroups:

Recap: You've been hijacked. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware,
including posting your hijackthis log to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or other appropriate forums for expert
analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Hi Robear

Please forgive me popping in here ...................

Do you have any experience of the facility at www.hijackthis.de ?

Any assistance/comment will be appreciated - TIA

Dave

Sorry. I am not too sure if they are related. I did run the spybot and
remove some spyware afterwards through spybot and I thought I already some
the hi-jacked problem. So you are saying it is not good enough?

Actually, there is one thing bothering me. I go to a local computer expert
and I can connect through with his line. The same line I can connect with my
laptop. Now I have re-installed the winxp and the same thing. Is this
related to hi-jacked? Please help. I am really desperate.

That is not good enough.

[Why did you snip my reply?]

Here's the original; you tell me:

I was referring to my message in this thread at 0302 GMT Did you notice it?

I snipped solely because I've learned to try to conserve 'bandwidth' - I
accept all the guidance you posted for Scarlett.

I am NOT trying to be disruptive - just learn more everyday! TIA if you are
willing to provide your view.

Was that answer intended as a response to me too, Robear?

Rather than "piggyback" onto someone else's thread (especially someone so
distraught/confused as Scarlett), it'd be best to begin your own new thread,
BD. That being said...

Yes, I'm very familiar with such HijackThis log analyzers. Most of us
consider them pretty useless: Nothing beats an experienced, eagle-eye when
it comes to interpreting HijackThis logs. Things are changing by the minute
and no one database will /ever/ be able to keep up with it (especially Trend
Micro, who recently purchased HijackThis from Merijn and who's trying to
incorporate an automatic interpreter into its new, upcoming build).

I DID post separately ................. in
'microsoft.public.access.security', but so far no-one has responded. :(
It gets a little frustrating ......... waiting for an answer ...........
anyway, I'm sorry for seeking your personal advice in this manner. I'm
pleased, though, that you have taken the trouble to respond. Thank you.

I understand, Robear. Which other 'auto' analysers are you familiar with
that I may explore?
Of the sites which you have recommended to Scarlett for HiJackThis analysis,
do you have a particular favourite?

If one is unfortunate and has already become infected, is there a foolproof
way of knowing that one has actually found the bona fide 'help' organisation
........... or can one be re-directed to an imposter site which will then
give bad advice?

Still interested to know more! TIA

Dave

Of course! <g>

Dave

PS Did you deliberately ignore my query regarding re-direction, if
infected?
