Hi,

What port do you need to have open to allow XP SP1 computer to connect to a
XP SP2 computer with the firewall on? I can use run (XPSP1 ip address) and
access the files, but if I use run (XPSP2 ip address) I can`t access the
files, unless I turn off the firewall.

I don`t know what port it uses when accessing another computers files. My
computers that have XPSP2 have no problems accessing other computers with
XPSP2 on it, just the XPSP1 can`t access the XPSP2 computers with the
firewall on. Thanks for any help.

Jeff

Hi,

Those ports are open as defaults, its not the one that is blocking the XPSP1
machine from accessing the XPSP2 machines. Using Fport, I see ports 2267 to
2293 opening up when I am accessing XPSP2 computers via their IP address. I
don`t know what port XPSP1 computer was trying to use when trying to connect
to my XPSP2 computers via ipaddress.

You should activeate "File and Printer Sharing" exception. This way, all
the required ports would be available.
