All of a sudden, Firefox is slow accessing some sites. www.sfgate.com is
one. I can get through with no problem with MIE, but not with Firefox. Any
idea what could be causing this?

Nope. The site loads fine in my Firefox 1.5 in about 20 seconds on dialup,
as it always does.

This is just a guess, based on seeing this problem reported
occasionally with other people unable to reproduce the problem. (I
can't reproduce it either.) It might be that some sites are serving
rotating ads that are causing Firefox trouble.

Even if my guess is wrong (and it probably is), AdBlock Plus along with
the Filterset.G updater is a good way to decrease delays in general.

You may want to check your Proxy settings to make sure they're the same for
both programs. I had some problems with my ISP's proxy recently, and
turning it off made all the difference.

IE: Tools menu -> Internet Options -> Connections tab -> LAN Settings.
Firefox 1.5: Tools menu -> Options -> General tab -> Connection Settings.
