I just switched from IE to FireFox. I like it so far, but cant get an answer
to this simple question anywhere.

In IE you have your list called "favories". If you save something there you
can easily choose send to desktop, and it creates a shortcut icon on your
desktop. With FireFox they are called "bookmarks", and there is no option to
send it to my desktop. How do I do this?

hi,

you need to go to the Firefox forum for this type of question, considering
this newsgroup is for Windows XP, not some third party software.

I went to that link and it showed so many different options. What is the
name of the extension I need to download?

Just drag a bookmark in FF to your Desktop. A shortcut is created.

Thank you so much John Paul! I apprieciate your consideration and help!
The second link worked. I just though since I did a search her and saw how
many past subjects pertained to IE vs. FireFox, that some one could help.

Wow, sorry

Hi David,

Firefox is a program that runs on Windows... same as IE, and this is a
windows support forum.
The question was regarding a function to take a link from a browser to the
desktop which is.....drum roll...... part of windows. Funny that.
I don't see the problem.

Ask firefox. This is a Windows group. You don't ask GM about your ford.

Hi Luke,

This is a Windows Forum to answer questions about Microsoft products running
on Windows, not third party software that can run under windows. Firefox is
not part of XP nor Microsoft, so it does not pertain to this newsgroup. If
it was IE, which is a Microsoft product or even MS Word, then its a
legitimate question. If the user has questions about a third party
software, they need to go to that softwares forum site. If you have been
following this newsgroup, you will notice people being referred to the third
party sites to find their answers instead of here. Granted there have been
many kind people willing to answer such questions, but usually if they state
it as an Off Topic post.

This group has never applied rigid criterion about what it will and
will not discuss (unlike some Usenet groups, that argue about what's
off-topic endlessly). Let's keep it that way!

When you seen the subject FIREFOX That told you it WAS a you say
OFF TOPIC according to your way of thinking

Ditto. If you know the answer to a question, it's often faster
and results in a shorter message to just provide the answer
instead of complaining about asking it here.

That said, it's often helpful to point the person asking to
another forum where he is more likely to get an answer to his
question.
