Why not simply uninstall Firefox? If you need more help, supply more
details about the computer, who is in control of the machine,
workstation in a domain, standalone home machine, etc.

Hi,

Yes, IE can be set as the default browser.

Open FF - Tools - Options - General Tab uncheck "Firefox should check...".

Open IE - Tools - Internet Options - Programs tab and check "Internet Explorer
should check..." The next time IE is open select IE as the default browser.

My grandson uses the Firefox browser from a USB memory stick. I want to
force him to use IE. I can disable the USB ports but that seems to drastic.

Thanks.

There is no possible reason for you to do this. If anything, browsing
with Firefox is safer (and better) than with IE6. Aside from disabling
the usb ports, there is no way you can stop this behavior. I suggest
you have a talk with your grandson to discuss the underlying issues you
have with him and his user of your computer. If he is downloading
things you don't want onto your computer, this has nothing to do with
the browser he is using.

Your grandson is smart by using Firefox. It is safer than IE and can
not execute (dangerous) ActiveX code.

Not so. There are many reasons not to use a foreign browser in XT.

For example, using Firefox will void your warranty and cause your cat to
have warts.

Recently, a chap in Wales was using Firefox and a sixty-pound hunk of "blue
ice" from a passing BA airliner fell through his greenhouse, destroying over
80 bromeliads.

Yup, he is. You should switch to Firefox (even though you may not be able to
access sites like mapleglobal.com). It's safer, plus you can install addons
like Adblock.

Given that Firefox gets community review of the source code and has higher
code standards, wouldn't it make more sense to try and lock out IE and
force the use of Firefox?

Bad grampa!

Why would you force your grandson to use inferior software?

The beatings will begin ..
