First try starting up in safe mode, this disables all extensions. If that
fixes the problem, uninstall extensions one by one to see which one is
causing the trouble.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode for details.

If that doesn't fix it, it's possible that your current profile is messed
up. Try creating a new one and check if that's causing the trouble. For
details see:

http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile

If *that* still doesn't do the job, then your FF installation must be
really borked. Try reinstalling?

Regards,
Wald

I've used firefox since it came out with no problems at all... the only
time I had an issue with any mozilla products was when I added a spell
check plugin, and then the program wouldn't open.

Everything was running fine here with 1.0.4, but... y' now; I just couldn't
leave well enough alone (standard for me?). Installed 1.0.5, and, lo &
behold.... my "Personal Toolbar Folder" (with browser opened) had, seemingly,
*dissapeared*.

Mind you, the bookmarks still existed, but the above-named folder was not to be
seen. Re-installed 1.0.4, and all was well.

Perhaps I should wait for 1.0.6 to make its' appearance.

Vrodok,
Did you try re-customizing the toobars? (right click on the menu or
navigation toolbar, select "Customize" and then drag the "Bookmarks
Toolbar Items" back to your favorite location.)

This setting might have gotten lost somehow.

Upon (apprehensive) re-installation (of 1.0.5), the Personal Bookmarks thingie
seems to have gotten its' act together. However, life is not as it was before
1.0.5; occasionally there are some "quirks". Such as no tabs in main-window
(or, several tabs; close 1 and *all* close), menu-bar decides to omit "Tab"
(puts quite a pinch in things, you must admit), and perhaps a few others, which
I do not recall just atm.

If this is "secure Firefox", then "security" itself needs tweaking, imho.

I dunno. I think you got some other problems going on. My copy is
running perfectly. Maybe youre user.js or prefs.js got corrupted? You
might want to ask one of the experts in the netscape.mozilla.firefox
newsgroup on the secnews.netscape.com server. You can subscribe to it here:

Subscribe to one of the listed groups there to get an account with that
server. Once you've done that, you can review the groups carried by it
and find the group I mention above, as well as unsubscribe to the first
group you subscribed to.

Probably. Am still recovering from a nasty W32.Padmer infection. After
multiple-attempts at re-installing XP.... anything could've happened :-(

Sounds really bad. I tried looking the virus up and had very little
luck. Did you try a total format then reinstall of your OS and apps or
did you just try to reinstall XP (I don't even know if that's possible,
since I don't use it)?

Don't dload NoScript then, it crashes FF every time I change permissions.

Re-installed XP before realizing (thanx to akula & an anti-vir app which would
not be mentioned in this group) the problem.

Thank you again, John.
