Finiky installations, same hardware?

I am installing the evaluation version on a couple systems that are identical. First problem I saw was that I recieved the build on CD. If I copy from CD to a fresh format HDD, I am fine. If I copy the CD to my HDD, then to a fresh format HDD, I get wierd behavior. The FBA goes fine but then the OS starts poping up windows saying is has found unknown ports. The screen resolution is also not right (and I cannot change this). Another problem I have been having now is that the drive boots into the FBA and then stops with errors, then I get blue screens and have had a couple messages:

PAGE_FAULT........
and
DRIVE_IRQL........

Sometimes the drive starts booting and hangs. I did not make this build, someone else is doing this, should I have them build it again? Thanks for any help

Greg,

e000020d=ERROR_INVALID_CLASS_INSTALLER.

Are you sure the hardware is identical on both systems? Also, the same HDD setup (partitions, etc.) on both?

What log you checked? (seems like Setupapi.log). What FBALog.txt says?

Btw, you will likely have to re-build the image.

I went into the log and found the error:

SetupDiClassInstallerError

and e000020d errors for DVD, HDD, ports and modem

Maybe this is helpful to determine my errors?

Greg,

Just out of curiosity.. Can you attach (as file attachments) the FBALogs from both installations here?
Would be interesting to compare and see what could be wrong with the identical hardware.

Everything is EXACTLY the same unless for some reason something in here is a different rev (I have checked all the serial numbers
I can find). All drives have been formatted/partitioned the same. This is from the FBAlog.txt file. Thanks for the help though!

Hi Greg,

You can use Outlook Express for posting to NG and placing file attachments.
Reading log files is a lot easier that text that you put in message.

Regarding messing things up, I do not understand the problem with your HDD/device.

I dont know how I would attach the files without cut/pasting the whole thing. Also, I would probably mess up my working
installation if I put the HDD on this machine (since it is an eval copy). I dont have any devices I can transfer data between both
machines either.
