my friend messed his computer up so he tried to reinstall
windows. it asked if he wanted full install so he did and
it formatted the the drive.he couldnt find his product
key code that came with the disk. its the same software
that came with the computer but its asking for the
product code. he doesnt know know where it is. i was
wondering if there is a way to find it in msdos mode? or
undo the changes that the install cd started to do? he
cant even get into safe mode or anything. thank you very
much for your help

kevin,

I don't see how your question relates to Windows XP Embedded.
You have not mentioned the OS on your friend computer so it would be hard to suggest you any other newsgroup.

If he registered the product, he may give a call the company he bought it from and ask for the product ID.

Sounds like an issue for microsoft.public.windowsxp. This is an XP Embedded
forum.

At any rate, the machine should have a COA (Certificate of Authenticity)
sticker on it that has the 25-digit PID (Product Identification) number on
it.
