I have a month old PC with Windows XP home version. (I have
no internet connection to the machine.) The problem is that
the system is trying to boot itself, but does not find any
boot disk. I put in the XP CD disk and the PC starts to
install Windows. After a while i get: blue screen
with "Windows repair has detected a problem and must shut
down...etc..etc".

Is there a way to restore the XP on the PC or should I
just go to some expert and have him re-install XP and thus
loosing my own files on the hard disk?

any hints are appreciated

This sounds like fairly serious hardware trouble. I would get onto the
suppliers under the warranty (emphasising the need, if possible, to
transfer files to a presumed replacement)
