Find & Replace in Word footers

Greetings,

I have many Word documents that I have to replace a specific phrase in the
footer. Is there a freeware program that will do this?

Thanks for the response, but not what I'm looking for. The below links
show how to do that when Word is open. I'm looking for a way to do it
without opening each document, of which there is several hundred.

Is there a way to find and replace without opening the Word documents?
