Doing a find/replace on a Word doc generates an extra
blank Word window, that's black except for the
find/replace dialog box. Thhe find/replace function seems
to work but since you can't see the document you have no
idea what you're finding/replacing. This is a PC running
Norton Antivirus Corporate edition. Thanks in advance for
any help.

Ordinarily I would advise you to disable the Office Plug-in in NAV. For the
Corporate Edition, here are Office MVP Beth Melton's instructions:

If Norton AV was installed at one time then the DLL for the Office
Plug-in could still be registered.

Search for : officeav.dll

If you find it then go to Start/Run and run the following command:

regsvr32 /u "<path>\officeav.dll"

Here is a KB article that provides a few additional details. It does
not include information on Norton CE but it will contain additional
details on the unregister command if you need them:

Graphics drivers for multi-monitor support (like Desk95.exe for ATI Hydravision) are known to cause this.

The lastest I heard was that MS is aware of the problem (which occurs in all versions of Word), and plans to publish a KB article.
But the only "fix" I heard of is to disable the multi-monitor software (... kill it from the task manager, or uninstall it).

Klaus
