Hi all,

I'm searching for a way to find someting (a text string) in an entire excel
workbook.
I have selected all the worksheet tabs and then clicked on 'Find' but only
the current worksheet
is treated.
Can someone give me a solution for this problem.

Thanks in advance,
Geert

G,

In the Find window, there is an "Options" button. Click on it, then from
"Within" drop-down list select "Workbook".

I'm using Excel 2000 at home, and Excel 97 at work. When I open the "Find"
dialog box (EDIT .. FIND), there is not an "Options" button, on either
version.

Is this only available on newer versions of Excel?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There is no Options button in XL97. I have never used 2000 so can't speak for
that.

I believe in 2000 you can "group" the sheets(r-click "select all sheets") and
do a Find across all sheets.

XL97 does a crappy job of searching across grouped sheets. Vast majority of
the time it will stop at end of search on first sheet.

Strangely enough, the Replace feature works fine across grouped sheets in
XL97.

For great results in all versions, Jan Karel Pieterse's FlexFind is a good
download. Best part is the selectable address listing of found items.
