When I click tools > Manage add-ons

I can see an add-on called Research

it does not have a publisher associated with it. when I go to Add /
Remove programs, I can't see any program named as such.

I downloaded spyware detector, can't find anything.

Now, this add on could have been added by the manufacturer, but I am
not sure. where can i find the actual file?

when I go to View Objects from the Tools menu, there are no files
there. The manage addons dialog box itself does not provide much other
than Enable/disable.

anyhelp appreciated.

That Add-on cannot be installed/uninstalled via that dialog.

It's a CLSID rather than a file, created by MS Office most likely. See
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\{92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263}

You may want to leave it as is.

The actual filename of the add-on component should be visible to you on the
manage addons screen under the column titled "file". If no file is visible
and you are still concerned you should use the option to block the component
from the add-on screen. If issues arise you can always enable it at a later
time.

Oh. thanks.

I was worried that it was some company doing research on me!

funny, it should have Microsoft Corporation as its publisher, but for
some reason it's not.

thanks a lot.
