Hi, I would like to fill in the blank space (A2:A8) below Allan Flanagan's name (A1) all the way down until it gets to the next name (Allan Matthews). I need to populate the whole of Column A in this manner. I don't want to drag as it will take for ever and is prone to making manual errors

Steve,

Select A2:A100 (or however many rows your data has)

Press Control + G to bring up the Go To dialog box

Click the Special button

Select blanks and click OK

Type =A1 and then press Control + Enter

Hope this helps,

Mike

Once you have done this, it will leave the cells containing formulas, rather
than values. To change these to actual values, select the column, Edit /
Copy then Edit / Paste Special . . . Values.

Andy.
