fill handle and cell drag-and-drop

It seems that in excel 2007 that you can type a b c in consecutive cells than
then highlight and drag to continue d e f etc. Is this true or is there
something I can do to fix this?

As in xl2003 I think you'd need to create a new custom list for this purpose
(assuming you don't want to use a formula) - which you can do via Office
Button>Popular category>Edit Custom Lists.
