I had an application emailed to me. I downloaded it, saved it ect but for
some reason i can not open it. I think maybe it has to do with my folder
settings in my control panel, maybe the word doc. Or i could be completly
wrong. Does anyone have any advice? If yyou need more info just let me know.
Thank you
Hi Jenn!
You said you downloaded it, so I will assume that you can see the file
within Windows Explorer. Can you tell me the complete file name (ie.
"filename.zip", etc.). You should always configure WINDOWS EXPLORER to
be able to see ALL files and their full names. To do this, you...
1) open Windows Explorer
2) select the TOOLS pull-down menu, and select FOLDER OPTIONS.
3) select the VIEW tab...
And make sure the following options are checked and un-checked
like so:
(x) Show hidden files and folders
(checked)
[ ] Hide extensions for known file types
(un-checked)
[ ] Hide protected operating system files
(un-checked)
This way, you see exactly what's going on with ALL your files. Above
of course, is just an option if you like it that way. Regardless, if
you can see the file within Windows Explorer, right-click it, and
select properties. That will tell you the full filename, regardless of
your view settings. Once you get the file name, report it back here
and I'll tell you what kind of file it is, and what you need to open
it.
