I have Windows XP Pro installed on both my home's desktop
and work's laptop. On my PC at home, under My Computer I
have a group called Files Stored on This Computer which
contains the My Documents folder and the Shared Documents
folder. On my work laptop, I don't have these items
under My Computer. How do I add this to My Computer on
my laptop?

Yep, it's already set up that way. I also tried this on 3 different
Connectix Virtual PC Images that use Windows XP Pro too, couldn't get any of
them to display this either. My home computer does show this, but it was
originally set up with XP Home aand was later upgraded to XP Pro, maybe that
has something to do with it? I did check the registry on the one at home
and noticed it did not have the following line:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er]
"NoSharedDocuments"=dword:00000000

There was no NoSharedDocuments keyword in this part of the registry. I
tried removing that from this PC, and it still didn't work. I can live
without this, but I think it's kind of odd that I can't seem to get this
figured out.

Hi Mike,

No, the value isn't necessary. It would only come into play if it were set
to 1. Thus meaning having its value set to 0 has the same effect of it not
being there at all nor a need to be.

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and verify that you have this key listed:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders\{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89
c5-5595fe6b30ee}

If not, run the attached. If this doesn't help, good luck!

Hi Mike,

Ok, back to basics: In My Computer go to View/Arrange Icons By/Type and
Show in Groups.

Hmm, this doesn't appear to work for me. Tried running
it, no effect. Tried running & rebooting, no effect. I
had Tweak UI 2.10 on my system and the option to show
these folders was checked in there. Tried turning it off
& running the registry file, no effect. Tried
uninstalling Tweak UI & running the registry file, no
effect. Any other ideas?

Hmm, odd but interesting! Keep us posted and good luck.

Yes, that value was already set. I went ahead and ran the registry file
anyway, but again with no success (I'm starting to get used to that result).
If I were to guess, I would say that I have some other software running on
my machine that is preventing this. I find it odd, though, that I can't get
this to work on Virtual PC either, since those images have very little
software besides the OS on them.
