files & settings transfer from Win ME

I am trying to use files and settings transfer from Win ME over a local
ethernet network.
- I start the Xp transfer first,
- then go to the Win ME machine and use the XP cd to start the transfer.
- I choose to transfer over the network, but it responds that it can't find
the new machine. Can anyone help me?
