Files not visible on hard drive

I have 2 hard drives; the main one is C and the 2nd drive is F. OS is
XP Home with SP2; I have updated with the latest security updates.

The F drive shows that there is 5.8 gb of used space, and 146 gb of
free
space, yet when I open the F drive in My Computer, it only shows a
single 5 mb file. I tried "arrange icons by type" but there is still
only the 1 file. I already tried "show hidden files and folders" but
this didn't help.

Could this be a glitch from the recent security update?

Any suggestions as to how I can retrieve the other files? I know they
are there; I just can't access them. Thanks.

Hi

From a command prompt (root folder) on the F drive run the following
command:

dir /a/s

What resulting files are shown then - do they add up to the 5.8 gb?

I'm a little bit rusty on my command prompts. How do I do a command on
the F drive? I tried run>cmd and at the c:\Documents and
Settings\Desktop Name> I tried cd:f:/dir/a/s. I'm sure I'm using the
wrong command line. Can you help me out? Thanks.

I was able to run the command prompt and dir/a/s; it seems as if all of
the files are in "F:\Recycler\. I'm not sure how they got there. Any
way to recover them? Thanks.
