Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

I'm about to reinstall XP and usually I would copy personal files etc to an
external drive , and then re-customised settings etc.
I was wondering how ' reliable ' the Transfer Wizard is ? Sometimes these
utilities create more problems than doing it by ' hand ' ..

Why are you reinstalling Windows, Sparky? How certain are you of your
current data's integrity?

It's a friend's computer that has all sorts of screwed up associations....eg
trying to send a photo via right click > Sent to > mail recipient doesn't
work and a host of other problems too. Easier to do a fresh install and
start over I think...

I was more interested in the reliability of using the FSTW to restore
settings....probably better just to do it myself

If the settings aren't working now, they won't work if you save & transfer
them using FAST.
