~ File?????

What is the file that always shows up in my Word Document folders named ~
with the _ under the ~ ? Any way to get rid of it? I've deleted it from
specific folders but it keeps re appearing.

Word uses temporary files prior to the file being saved. Check out the

The file name that he describes does not sound like any of the names
in the KB article. In fact, making a file name with an underscored
tilde sounds like it would take some effort.

Consider the possibility that it is a virus.

I also recall hearing of an IE bug that created files named tilde on
the desktop; maybe this is related.
