I want to transfer some files such as MP3 files, Outlook
Express address book, documents etc. from a Win98 machine
to my XP machine. These two machines are NOT networked.
Any ideas how to make this as painless as possible?

Zip them into one or more files and email them to yourself.

Theres also another cheap faster version, take the hard drive out of the 98
pc and put it into the XP pc, and then copy them across. Depends on how
comfortable u are with that tho

Try Direct Connection between the two machines. Just
requires one cable and then configure it.

x-no-archive: yes

Install a third-party editor like UltraEdit. Open each file in
UltraEdit, and print it in hex mode. Install and open UltraEdit on the
target system, and type in the content of each file.

Surely you jest. Print out in hex an MP3 file and type the data back in, I
don't think so. This guy probably wants to get this done sometime this
year.
