I am suddenly getting the following error message when trying to move or
copy files from My Documents to the zip drive (or indeed to any of the other
drives listed in Windows Explorer). "Error copying file or folder. Cannot
create or replace [filename]. The directory or file cannot be created." The
same message appears when I try to move files within My Documents or via the
Send To option on right click. Incidentally the zip disk is only half full.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this please?

Can you supply the problem in your own words just in case it is not
exactly the same?
FWIW, a zip drive has limits on the amount of entries you can put in
the root folder. (260 files/folders if in 8.3 format and far less if
over 13 characters) If that is the problem, then create subfolders.

I am having the same problem and interested in knowing if and how you fixed it?

The message I am getting is "Error copying file or folder. Cannot
create or replace [filename]. The directory or file cannot be created." The
message appears when I try to copy files to a CD or cruzer mini drive. I can move files around my hardrive with no problem. It happens to types of files (but not all). E.g., copying msMONEY files are no problem.
Thanks.

Alan,
Thanks for your suggestion about the zip drive. Organizaing the files on my
cruzer drive into folders seems to have taken care of the problem.

Thanks a lot.
