I have just been using Messenger to contact my son. Everthing appears to be
working ok and is fast 'cos we are both on broadband. However he tried to
send me a file , and I tried to do the same, but we both got this message
'We could not send this file because the connection is blocked. Please
contact your network administrator or ISP, they may be able to enable file
transfers.'.
Has anyone any ideas?

No replis yet so perhaps I may add to this question. Could it be my firewall
or IP filter settings?

OK, lets start: 1. What version of Windows, I assume XP. Then have you
disabled the built in firewall? 2. Do you have a Router? If so, is it
configured to allow the transfer of data?
3. Do you have some other firewall? If so, then is it configured to allow
data transfer? 4. Are you using DSL, if so is the Modem supplied by the
company and is it a NAT type? Don't know, ask them! Don't know what a NAT is
go here http://www.webopedia.com/.

So, the real thing for you to do is look at your systems, and see what you
are doing, also do some reading on your own, do some research learn how to
use your computer and the Operating System and the applications. Perhaps
even take some computer classes.

As far as I am aware, Windows Messenger has problems with NATs (Network
Address Translation devices).. MSN Messenger does not..
