File tansfer wizard

I have a new laptop with no floppy and my old laptop with a floppy i need to transfer files. i have upgraded the xp home edition that came with the new LT to xp professional using my official copy. I have been trying to transfer files via the fole transfer wizard but do not get past the section where the wizard is looking for two ports. the "old" laptop has windos xp professional also. HELP as i need to transfer files ASAP
 
Are you using a serial cable?

If you have a network, what about saving the data collected from File and
Transfer Wizard to a share that both computer can access?

If you have a CDR, this would be another option.
