File tab get highlighted

It happens once I select a text, some times the table tab highlight also
when I select the entire text. I have to press escape to get rid of that.
What is the right way to do it? i am using word 2003

Uh, could you explain a little more? I cannot picture what you mean by
this. What table tab? What file tab? What do you mean by "a text"?
 
in ms word 2003 xp, on the tools bar, there is file , edit , view ...table..
when i want to change the font size of my text, and just after i highlight
it, the file on the tools bar get highlighted, some times view or table, to
get rid of it i press esc on my keyboard.

That makes it much more clear. However, I have no clue what might be
causing that. Sorry not to be of more help.
