excel files won't open when I double click them to open.
I have to open excel & use the open command & open all excel
files this way only. How can I set up excel to allow me to just double
click the file no matter where it is located to get the file to open.
All I get now is a blank Excel screen!
Thanks

Go to:

<Tools> <Options> <General> tab,

And *uncheck*
"Ignore Other Applications".

Thanks, This solved a problem I have had for many months & was unable
to find the solution to fix it until I posted on this Support Forum
Thanks Again!

I am using excel 2007. I have the "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic
Data Exchange (DDE)" but this does not fix the problem. My files still don't
open without using the open file command.

OK i feel really stupid, but WHERE are you seeing TOOLS?? i have no TOOLS at
the top of my excel window.

??

You didn't tell us what version of Excel you are trying to use, Phyllis. If
you are trying to use Excel 2007, it is always wise to say so, as it has
many differences from the earlier versions of Excel which many of the
experienced users here are still using.

The message to which you are replying was dated 21 Mar 2006, and I'm sure
that RagDyer will have been referring to Excel 2003 or earlier (as Excel
2007 hadn't been released by then).

If you want some hints on finding the equivalent of Excel 2003 instructions
in Excel 2007, try:
