When I run a Windows defrag, it carries it out but aafetr
it finishes, it gives a report of a 4Gb file in c:\My
Documents that it cannot defrag. When I look for the
file, it's not showing up. I don't have "Hidden Files"
ticked...

Hi Grant,

Perhaps a super-hidden file? (Protected)
http://www.winxptutor.com/showallfiles.htm

And, what's the file name?

Thanks Ramesh - untiked the box to show super-hidden
files but this has made no difference.

The file name is

Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK588\Sydney
Night.avi

I had this avi file in another directory but deleted it
some time ago. Perhaps it's a phantom file...

It's in Temporary Internet Files folder, not in My Documents. Have you tried clearing the TIF via Internet Options General tab? That should do it.

I finally found it - it's in yet another hidden folder
called OLK588 which only came up when I did a search on
that name... thanks for all your help!
