File sharing with two wireless machines - HELP

I have 3 XP Pro machines. My main pc is directly connected to the internet
via a cable modem. That machine also has a wireless router that sends the
internet wirelessly to my other two XP machines.

I need to be able to get at several folders on the wireless machines from my
main pc.

Simple enough, I thought. I went to 'setting up a home/office network'
wizard on my main machine and that appears to have done what it needed to do
(didn't create a networking diskette as it didn't need to).

I then went to one of my 'satellite' machines and ran the networking wizard
on it also because I thought I needed to. It prompted me to create a
networking diskette which I did. However it seems to have also created
another wireless connection (local area connection 2) which disabled my
existing local area connection. This also stopped the wireless internet
connection on that pc from working too.

Not sure how to proceed/fix the situation I resorted to restoring from a
previous system checkpoint.

I must have done something wrong on the wireless system or chose the wrong
option perhaps.
Can anyone assist me with this please?

Thanks,
Walter

If I understand correctly:

1. The cable modem connects to a network adapter on the main PC.

2. The wireless router connects to a second network adapter on the
main PC.

3. You've enabled Internet Connection Sharing on the cable modem
connection to give Internet access to the other machines.

If that's right, check the wireless router's setup. You need to use
it as a wireless access point only, bypassing its routing and DHCP
capabilities. To do that:

1. Connect all of the PCs to the router's LAN ports. Don't connect
anything to the router's WAN (Internet) port.

2. Disable the router's built-in DHCP server.

Even if that works, I'd consider changing your network setup by using
the wireless router's full capabilities to give Internet access to all
of the computers:

1. Disconnect the cable modem from the main PC and connect it to the
router's WAN (Internet) port.

2. Connect all of the computers to the router's LAN ports.

3. Disable Internet Connection Sharing on the former main PC.
