HI

I need to share my files on a network but I need user level security control, so everybody cannot access it

Right now, I use XP Home and I find anybody logging to the network having access to my shares

Can I have more security with XP Pro? What is the extent of security control possible

Thank
Ramesh

My understanding is that XP Home only allows Simple File Sharing.
In that case anything in "My Shared Documents" is open to all, with
full read/write access.
In XP Pro you can disable simple file sharing and set permissions

In Win9x, you can set user-level security too - and while this is
"weaker" than what XP Pro may offer, it doesn't depend on NTFS and is
a step up from what appears to be possible in XP Home.

Running Windows-based av to kill active malware is like striking
a match to see if what you are standing in is water or petrol.
