File Sharing Problem

On my friends pc, running windows xp home edition, whenever a folder is set
to shared, it just removes the share after about a minute. any idea why or
how to stop it? thanks for your help :)

Where are the shares located? XP Home does not permit sharing of users'
home directories (My Documents) or Program Files although you can share
folders within those directories.

Otherwise, please describe exactly what happens - any error messages,
what "removes the share after about a minute" entails.
