I had 4 compter and one print server connected to a linksys router, 2 of
these computer has windows 2000 and 2 had XP (1 home & 1 Pro), I decided to
add switch for 5th (xp) pc access. Now, They all access the internet but they
wont communicate with each other, in the XP machines I can map the network
and it would show only 3 computer but then when I expand those options it
gives me NOTHING, please Help...
all pc's have file & printer sharing enabled

Sara,

This sounds like a browser conflict. A browser conflict can have several
causes.

First, check for misconfigured / overlooked firewalls, and for registry setting
restrictanonymous.
Misconfigured / overlooked firewalls:

Registry setting restrictanonymous:

If no help, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so
we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely:

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.

all firewalls turned off, can I email you the screen shot of all computer so
you can see the ip configurations??, also I was not able to execute browstat
status

Thank you so much

Sara,

You can email what you like, but it will be much more useful with browstat
output. Please reread my article, and follow all links. Or at least provide
details of "not able to execute browstat status". And please don't do screen
shots. Text output is much more useful. Please read my instructions.

chuck;

I fallowed your instructions and every thing look ok, except there was a
value assigned to the dns server 68.10.16.30 ON ALL MACHINES!! EVERY THING
ELSE IS NORMAL

Sara,

If EVERYTHING else is NORMAL, but you still have a problem, I suggest that you
reread my main articles, and look for SOMETHING that isn't NORMAL:
