File Sharing Difficulty Still

I have increased the IRPStackSize and checked other
parameters as indicated to be done in the response to my
note of 3/4/04. I also turned off Norton Antivirus on
both PC's.

I am still NOT able to share/open files on my Dell PC
from my Gateway PC. It works great in the reverse
direction. The printers can be run from each PC without
problem. The files on the Dell PC are seen by the
Gatyeway PC. I just cannot open any of Dell files from
the Gateway.

Any other suggestions?

Make sure that ICF is permanently disabled on both PCs.

Turn off all firewall apps on both PCs, at least while sorting
out the sharing problems.

Make sure you have TCP/IP enabled, and NetBIOS over TCP/IP
enabled, on both PCs. And, for starters, disable NetBEUI
and IPX/SPX on both.

Now, which way works and which way doesn't? (Your description
above is confusing.)

And, what is the OS on each PC? (That matters more than the
hardware brand name.)

What happens when you try to open a file in the failing case?
Do you get a password prompt? If so, does it show the Guest
username, or what?
