I am trying to migrate files and settings from one
computer to another using a direct serial cable
connection. Old computer is Dell 4100 series using XP
Pro (retail) and new computer is Dell 4600 with XP Pro
(OEM). Cable attached to Com1 on both computers,
hardware wizard says COM1 is operating properly, AND I
can use COM1 for other devices (eg. GPS download, a
flight simulator). Problems:
1. F&S Transfer Wizard will NOT recognize the serial
connection between computers
2. F&S Transfer Wizard will NOT write to a CD-RW disk,
but it will write to either a zip or floppy.
Has anyone else encountered either of these problems, and
if so, how did you overcome them?
TIA for your help.
