The File | Send To menu item in Word 2002 provides a number of
interesting options that appear to ship a copy of the current file to
various other applications.
There are occasional requests in the newsgroups for a way to make a
backup copy of the current document without going through the trouble
of Save As and then Save As again to get the name changed back.
It occurs to me that it "ought to" be possible to create a small
application that could appear on the Send To menu, and accept a copy
of the document when one is sent to it, and save it to the user's
pre-specified backup folder with the file name modified by appending
the date and time.
Is this a simple thing to do, or is it what we cynically call a SMOP
(Small Matter of Programming)? (I have no idea what goes on under the
covers when one uses Send To, so I have no idea whether this is easy
or difficult for someone who knows what they are doing.)
