file saving (not!) mystery

Strange thing happened...
Spent about 6 hours creating a ppt slide show, diligently
saving (often) as I went along.

Then, next day, opened the ppt to continue working on it
and...surprise! none of the slides I had created had been
saved. All that was there was the very first blank slide I
started with.

It looked like it had been saving all along: everytime I
did a save, the blue bar at the bottom flashed; and the
file directory does show it was last modified at the
date/time that I finished working and saved one last time
before exiting.

So what happened? Is this a known problem? Any fixes?

Many thanks.

Before throwing the computer out of the window, you may want to do a file
search for PPT files modified yesterday.

Start | Search | Files and folders
*.PPT
Limit date to 10/13/03

You may have (without realizing) done a save as and renamed the file to
something else or somewhere else.

If this does not yield results, try the same thing on TMP files. One of
these may have a interim save.

You are not opening the PPT file over a network, are you? This should be
avoided. You should, instead, copy/move the file to your local hard drive
(C:), modify it there, and then move it back to the network drive.
