Is it possible to retreive files etc from a crashed motherboard and
hard drive please or is the only way to do it is if back ups were made
please ?.
Data is kept on your hard drive, not your motherboard. If the hard drive
is physically viable, then data recovery software can be used to
probably retrieve the data. If the hard drive is physically damaged,
then you would need to send it to a professional data recovery company.
If the hard drive was making any unusual noises, grinding or clicking
sounds, then do not attempt to retrieve data by software methods. Go
directly to the data recovery company.
For software data recovery, I suggest you contact some local computer
repair professionals and see what they say. While you can do software
recovery yourself, it does require a fair amount of computer skills.
I'm not meaning to hurt your feelings, but based on your post it would
probably be better if you left this to a professional.
For data recovery on a failed hard drive, I prefer Drive Savers
(
www.drivesavers.com) but there are other companies such as Ontrack and
Seagate Data Recovery. These companies' services are not inexpensive,
but only you can determine the value of your data.
