File Reservation in XP

When I attempt to open an Excel spreadsheet by double-clicking the file
I get the File Reservation window, saying that the file is bein
modified by me. If I choose "Cancel", then d-c the file again, i
opens fine. Any idea what is causing this? I'm running Excel 97 SR-
under XP Pro SP-1.
