File Operations SLOW

Hello All:

I posted this in another conference and got some suggestions, which I tried,
but nothing seemed to work. The problem I'm having is that when I'm in any
Windows program, and I try to save, it takes quite a long time after I hit
save before anything happens. Same thing happens when I try to open a file.
I've checked for spyware with Spy Bot, I've checked my HD fragmentation
which is minimal, and I've checked my error logs, which report some errors,
but nothing consistent with the problems I'm having. Are there any other
ideas? Could it be that because of the size of my hard drive 111 GB, it just
will take longer no matter what I do? Any help would be appreciated.

Jim,

If you only ran Spybot for malware check, you might want to try a more versatile
scanner, like HijackFree or HijackThis (both free).

Maybe get Process Explorer (free), and see if any legit processes are
monopolising system resources.

What antivirus protection do you have? Some of them will use a fair amount of
processor when opening and saving files.

Thanks for the response Chuck. I use Norton Antivirus. I also obtained the
software you recommended but am having trouble interpreting the data from
Process Explorer. What am I looking for?
