file opening problems.

When I double click on some xls files it will open OK.
Others with try to reopen the file. If I click to not
reopen or to reopen the workbook is available and fine. If
I open Excel first and then open a file it works fine. I
am then able to open any Excel file with no problems.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Sometimes one of these works:

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

An alternative might be to do:
Try Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)
