I am having trouble with creating a new database file with more than one
letter in its file name. For example, I created a file named "Test.mdb" and
Access saved it as "T.mdb" Also, when I try to export a table or query to
another database file, for example "Name.mdb", Access cannot find that file
as it is looking for "N.mdb". The error message I get is "Microsoft Access
can't find the database file 'c:\folder1\folder2\N.mdb'. Make sure you
entered the correct path and file name." In query design, there are
occasions when I cannot type in the grid, select a table, or drag a column
from a table to the grid.
I looked for solutions to this problem on the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but
cannot find a relevant article. I also checked that MS Jet 4.0 is up to
date. I have Windows XP, Office 97, and Office 2000. I have never had this
problem on my laptop, only the desktop. I also did not encounter this
problem when I had Windows 98. Could it be something to do with Windows XP?
I am considering completely uninstalling Office 2000 and reinstalling it.
Any suggestions as to what the resolution is?
